SGT MEMORIAL FOOTBALL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP
The Skegee Golden Tigers, Inc. (SGT) Memoriaal Scholarship $3,000
SGT, provides scholarships as well as leadership development opportunities to highly motivated student- athletes. Three (3) awards are given in memory of deceased Tuskegee Golden Tiger football family, which include former players, coaches, and supporters. The three awards recipients receive $1000 each during the annual TU President Essay and Awards Program.
The endowment scholarship was established on December 5, 2019 and currently exceeds Sixty Thousand dollars.

Scholarship Committee members attending program was Carl Hamilton, Ken Woodard and Leonard G. Lewis. Also Sherly Hamilton, SGT Supporter, was also in attendance to congratulate recipients.
The three awards were name for the first time to pay memorial tribute to Golden Tiger Football family. Golden Tiger family honored this year was Ronald M. Gilmore, Sr., Jerome Hawkins and Coach Haywood Scissum.

April 9, 2017 - President of Skegee Golden Tigers, Inc., Leonard G. Lewis, congratulate Golden Tiger Football Scholarship recipients at the 2017 President Essay and Awards Contest.
SGT donated three $500 awards that were presented to Travis Hawkins, Brandon Wilson and Daryl George .
2016
April 10, 2016 - Skegee Golden Tigers (SGT) provide funding for two scholarships during the 2016 President Essay and Awards Contest Program held in Tuskegee University Chapel. This year mark the second year the former Golden Boys and supporters recognized the students for their achievements on field and classroom.
SGT's Ken Woodard and Tuskegee's Athletic Director congratulate the two student-athletes.
2015
April 5, 2015 - Skegee Golden Tigers began offering the SGT Football Memorial Scholarship(s) in 2015 to Golden Tiger Footbal players who displayed leadership qualities in the classroom and on the field.
Ken Woodard, Former NFL/Tuskegee football player and fellow board member Joselyn Quinn represented Skegee Golden Tigers as scholarships were presented to Travis D. Hawkins and El'Malik A. Chinn.
HISTORY
The 'SGT Memorial Football Awards' is given in memory of deceased members of Skegee Golden Tiger Football Family (players, coaches, and supporters). SGT sponsored its first scholarship/award in April 2015 during the 2015 Presidents Essay Contest and Awards Program. Golden Tiger Football Alumni & supporters fund the awards via tax-deductble donations and fundraisers.
In 2017, SGT expanded their scholarships offering to include two book scholarships each fall semester. The recipents of the two book scholarships can be one (1) female student-athlete and one (1) male student-athlete.
Scholarship award are given annually to selected
students meeting the following requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
Recipients must have
a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5 or better
Demonstrated leadership qualities on the field and in the classroom,and have a financial need.
Participates in community service projects locally and/or nationally.
SELECTION:
Tuskegee's head football coach and
athletic academic adviser's select recipients.
